I found this great website where you type in your exact address and it gives you a walkability score for you house. Mine is 42, which is "car dependent" it thens provides you with restuarants, schools, and parks nearby. Atlanta's average is 56....I can't believe I am below average!
What is your walkability number? Check it out http://www.walkscore.com/. I think the next house I rent or buy will need a 75 or higher! I would love to be able to walk to more places.
[Pic from my garden] - that being said - I really love my home. I have this pretty little angel in my garden - it makes me happy!

Our apartment has a score of 69 but given the harsh winters I wouldn't say it is really that high.
We wish we lived near one coffee shop we liked but it is nice walking to the library and nearby park.
For reference, ours is 71 -- VERY WALKABLE, suckas!!!
you two are lucky! 69 and 71 - those are awesome!
95... get ready for some walking in March! :)
Mine is 51...so weird that I am higher than you. I think the website might be faulty. Atlanta in general sucks for walkability though.
Dude - Gina, you just killed that competition! 95...holy moly. Laura - it is tough having a competition b/t our houses, both of the scores suck!
Fun website! Ashford Park is a 75...I'm impressed and excited! I don't necessarily think where our house is located is a 75 though...
I't a great website, I think that now i live in my apartment for rent buenos aires I can pretty much walk wherever I need to go, or at least not use the car and go by bus
